These days most of us have a mobile phone, a generous proportion of them being equipped with a camera of some sort. This amalgamation of two common gadgets: the phone and the camera has saved pocket and handbag space for millions of people who want to be able to shoot on the go.

Meanwhile camera enthusiasts have rested easy on the fact that despite the ever-increasing number of mega-pixels these camera phones can churn out that the quality or rather the clarity of the pictures taken on mobile phones were always going to be grainy or noisy compared to their 200 Digital SLR camera. But its an old school camera manufacturer that is proposing new technology that will give these bulky cameras a run for their money.

Kodak has developed a new sensor small enough to fit in camera phones that can handle high quality 5MP digital stills and can shoot impressive 720p High Definition video too. Kodak will be leaving the camera market sweating next week at the Mobile World Congress when it unveils its new KAC-05020 sensor.

The camera tech company has implied that current and next generations of Mobile Phones will favour the new 1.4 micron sensor over the traditional 1.75 micron CMOS sensor as it provides clear, noise-free pictures even in low light situations. The sensor will be able to handle most modern features such as red-eye reduction and image stabilising to get the best shots on wobbly nights out.

Kodaks Director of Marketing said, For consumers today, high resolution is required but no longer sufficient. Smaller and thinner camera phones, high performance under low light, and superior video performance are the types of features that will enable the next generation of consumer imaging devices.

The biggest hill to climb is convincing camera makers to use the sensor which may prove difficult especially with the expense a sensor like this will cost. It is expected that companies who are trying to integrate their camera divisions with Mobile Phones such as SonyEricsson and Samsung will welcome this advance as they have product lines targeting the user who wants to have both a digital camera and a mobile phone without having to compromise on quality. It is estimated that Mobile Phones will carry this sensor as early as 2009.

Unlocked Nokia cell phones can provide you with years of solid performance, and in almost every way are as good as retail phones purchased right out of the box.

There are a few things, however, that every consumer should know about using unlocked cell phones that will help them manage expectations and get the most out of their phone. What follows are some helpful tips for using your unlocked Nokia cell phone.

Tip #1:<br />

Make sure your cell phone carrier uses a SIM card system The only way to take advantage of an unlocked cell phone is with a Subscriber Information Module (or SIM card as it is more commonly called). These tiny cards can be swapped in and out of any unlocked cell phone, giving you the power to move between providers with ease.

Tip #2:

Buy your phone from a reputable vendor It is best to purchase your cell phone from a reputable vendor (online or offline) with a significant amount of experience selling unlocked devices. The best way to find out if a vendor is legit is to hop online and check out their customer ratings and if they have a Better Business Bureau logo on their website. Also, work with sites that have VeriSign security signage on their site. That means your transactions are secure and highly reputable.

Tip #3:

Customize the web browser If you buy an unlocked Nokia cell phone with Internet capabilities, you may need to reconfigure the browser on your phone. This is not a difficult procedure and your unlocked cell phone dealer can either provide you with step by step directions as to how to get the browser up and running - or point you in the right direction on the web to find a guide to help get it done.

Tip #4:

Ask about Warranties and other important policies Even though you are purchasing an unlocked cell phone, you may still be able to get the same level of protection offered by a fully-fledged dealer. Many unlocked cell phone companies provide 1 year warranties (or more) on parts and services. There are also warning and disclaimers regarding terms of use that apply to your Nokia unlocked cell phone that must be followed in order to use the phone in accordance with the carrier.

Tip #5:

Double Check all your Voice Mail Settings When you insert a SIM card into an unlocked cell phone, there may be some settings that are lost or altered in the translation. Once you make sure that your cell phone works with the SIM card from your cell phone carrier, start up your voice mail and reset all the messages and settings from scratch. It should only take a few moments to get everything up and running.
